Our solar canoe model has been co-produced between ASU, Ecuadorean engineers and Kichwa, Cofan and Waorani people. Solar Canoes Against Deforestation frames renewable energy transportation as a catalyzer for local green economies, which are in turn fueled by our alliance between universities, NGOs, and local and Indigenous communities.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

A bioeconomic
initiative to boost ecological sustainability throughout the Amazon rainforest and beyond.

Solar Canoes Against Deforestation is a non-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide affordable electric canoes for riverine and fishing communities.

We are piloting an affordable solar-powered canoe and a network of solar recharge stations with Waorani riverine communities that can be scaled across Latin America and beyond.

The solar stations provide internet access to communities, opening opportunities for green jobs in ecosystem services enhancement, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable food production.
